Against my insurance's suggestion, I decided to bring my damaged New Car to Specialty Body Works. Owner Ed assured me that he can save me some $$$ by reducing the deductible amount I'd have to pay in the end. I asked how much the savings would be, every time we spoke, in person & by phone. He wouldn't tell me, but kept saying he'll take care of me. He also said he'll save me $$$ by making the repairs faster so I don't have to pay too much on rental.
The car is a brand new 2010 model, and it had rear damage, so they needed to replace the bumper, custom match the paint, replace the logo, spoiler, lights, fender.
What what suppose to be a 1-week repair turned out to be over 2 weeks. Apparently I did not save money on rentals.
When I picked up the car, the bumper had a gap from the body!! I asked them to refix it, they simply pushed it upwards -- really hard!! Driving it a few days made the gap visible again... even bigger. It's a look that's hard to describe -- but the bumper was not leveled, so it looks like it can fall off!!
Back to the dealer for my new car 5000-mile service, I asked them to look at it. O M G !!! They found out that the bracket holding the bumper was not the correct one, so it didn't really fit!! They had stretched it to fit, because they ordered the old model bumper bracket!!!
What's more, these people didn't know the difference between one model over another!! The logo they put on my car was for the previous model, too!! but now it's stuck there!!!
The savings he said he'd give me??
$250 more than what he had hinted, and what I thought.
And had I gone to the repair shop that the insurance suggested, all these mistakes would be corrected at no cost to me!! NOW I AM STUCK!!
