A contract was written, agreed upon, and signed. 2/3 of contract price was paid as a deposit (1/3 upon signing of contract and 1/3 when job began). After the crew removed all shingles from my roof, I was presented with a change order tripling the contract price. I said, "no, thank you". Sean Lilly refused to complete the job until I agreed to the change orders. I called a Miami-Dade County Roofing Inspector to ask if the county required the work listed in the change orders. He said "no", but suggested I hire an engineer to inspect my roof to ensure the structure was sound. I did offer to hire an engineer (a person Sean Lilly and I would both agree upon) to inspect my roof and certify that the change orders were necessary, but requested that the Sean Lilly abide by the professional advice of the engineer before I threw more money away. At that point, the company walked off the job with my deposit. BBB says I must take him to court, because it is "a contractual dispute". City of Miami says it can do nothing, because my roof is now replaced. (A dear friend of mine in the construction industry found a very reputable licensed roofing company to reshingle my home at the original contract price. Because Sean Lilly scared me into thinking my roof was terribly damaged, I did hire that engineer who, of course, said the change orders were NOT needed. Other than missing the shingles removed by Sean Lilly, my subroof was fine.) I do not have the funds to take Sean Lilly to court. The job is too small for an attorney. I post this as a courtesy to my community. Be safe. Be careful. I hope this never happens to you.

This written response is from Sean Lilly owner of the Sean Lilly Al Springer Roofing Co. The Customer that sent in this review is Laurie BAAD, Job location 2411 Swanson Ave City of Miami, Fl 33133. Telephone # 305-323-7703, and yes, the name matches the customer perfectly (BAAD)!
Let’s start with the first customer in relation to this residence. Her Name was Ms. Selby, she moved into the area from New York City in 2004 and in August of 2005 we where roofing several roofs in her area at the time and I lived in the area as well. She was experiencing several leaks so Ms. Selby called for an estimate of roof repair. We hit it off from the get go, super friendly and nice person. I informed her that the roof really needed to be replaced due to the age and amount of leaks in the roof. I drafted up a contract, she agreed, we signed all documents and informed her it would be a couple of weeks before we could start with the reroofing project. She agreed with the time and off to the building department we went for the permit. Approximately a week later she called and explained that she received some disturbing results from a recent doctors visit and was going to New York for treatment and asked if I could hold off on starting the roof, of course I said, we will be ready for you when you get back. The super sad part is we never heard back from Ms. Selby. Ms. Selby had passed away.
In October 2006 a realtor by the name of Nicky Wingate contacted me in regards to the deposit Ms. Selby placed on the roofing project the year before, she ask whether I was willing to transfer this deposit to the new owner for a new roof, I agreed to this without hesitation as of respect to Ms. Selby, and her family who wanted to sell the house ASAP.
In September of 2007 we meet Ms. BAAD. She called and asked us to reroof the roof and confirmed that we would honor the credit agreement from Ms. Selby. We pulled the new roofing permit and scheduled the roofing project. We removed M
