A little Too Slick For My Taste
|
Went in to look at the Ford Escape, a car I'd researched and looked to be in my price/value range. The owner's son knew the car fairly well, but wasn't a fan. He talked about it's bad points (under-powered, small, loud) and quickly led me to a brand new trade-in - a year old Ford Edge, for about the same money. I didn't know the Edge, but either he wasn't listening to what I wanted (too big, not great mileage, several small dings and broken items) or there was a big spiff for selling it, because he crowed about the opportunity to buy this car. Either way I felt like I was being handled rather than listened to. That said, he knew his cars.
