Very Disappointing

My parents purchased a "new" phone from JustCellular in September as a birthday gift for my 15 year old daughter. My daughter is very active in school activities and stays after school alot so it is very important for her to have a reliable phone. We trusted that since we were getting a "new" phone there would be no issues. The phone worked for a little over 3 months and then quit working. Every time a text was sent to the phone or the phone attempted to send a text message, it would shut off. When I contacted the company about the problem, I was told that they only have a 60 day warranty and there is no manufacturers warranty available for the phone, so there was nothing that they could do. So we are out $80, my daughter has no phone, and all they could offer was a 5% discount on my next purchase. There will be no next purchase, one rip-off was enough for me. Very disappointed that they sell their product as "new", but there are no manufacturer warranties or anything available.
