Quote one price, but try charging another when the job is done. Business has a different address now, but same phone number.
Was quoted a price over the phone, and again at the house. Asked about price for snaking additional lines and was given a quote. Gave go ahead to do the work. When he was finished with the work, presented me with a bill that was way over what he had quoted. I reminded him of the price he quoted, which he then lied about and said he quoted me a higher price. I would not have approved the work at the higher price.
Told him I would not pay what he was asking, as it was not the price he quoted he and he had only been at the house for just about an hour. At that point he tried to justify his bill of $260 by stating his normal hourly charge is $250 per hour. He became upset when I told him I would not pay him the $260, as that was not what he quoted me. He tried lowering the price a few dollars (still over $200) and I told him that was still much more than the price he quoted me. He then asked for me to pay him what I thought the job was worth. I paid him $160 (more than fair) and he ranted and raved that it was not enough. Started to tell me how the ad alone cost him $2000. Not sure why what he paid for the ad is my problem!
He finally left the house and stomped across my flower bed while leaving.
While his work seemed of good quality (hard to tell, as will have to see how the drains work a month or more from now), his inflation of the bill and then lying about what he quoted me was very unprofessional. Will never use him again.
