Review 10/16/2009

I needed 4 225/45-17 Michelin Pilot Exalto AS tires for my 2001 BMW. I did a lot of Internet shopping including Tirerack and all of the others. In general prices ranged from $190 per to $210 per tire prior to any taxes and shipping costs. Tirerack looked like the best at around $738 (final price) plus a $70 mail in rebate from Michelin. I was getting ready to go through Tirerack when I stumbled upon Online Tires while doing one last price search. They showed they had what I wanted and there final price was $638 (they were not a paticipating rebate dealer). still, cheaper then Tirerack after mail in rebate. So on 10/7 I went ahead and through the Internet ordered and paid for the set of 4. When I got home that night I realized that while I had thoroughly researched the tires I wanted I had done nothing to check on the vendor. So back to the computer to learn that they had an F rating with the BBB along with reading some of these posts. Needless to say I thought that I had possibly done something stupid and that I was going to have problems. As it turns out, that wasn't the case at all. On 10/9 I went and checked to see if I had gotten any shipping e-mails. Sure enough there was an e-mail from FedEx that came in the evening of 10/8 that provided the tracking number and an expected delivery date of 10/14 (shipping from CA to FL). FedEx showed up in the AM on the 14th with exacly what I had ordered. I never exchanged an e-mail or a phone call with Online Tires during the entire transaction. With no special shipping instructions a week from start to finish for this transaction seemed quite reasonable to me. The whole thing pretty much went down the way their site said it would. Maybe I was lucky but it definitely worked for me.
